What we collect

Location Data

We access GPS location only when you explicitly start a run. Location tracking stops immediately when you end your run. We don't track your location when Strider is closed or when you're not actively running.

Run Metrics

Distance, pace, time, elevation, and calculated statistics. All processed locally on your device to provide real-time feedback and run history.

Device Information

iOS version and app version for compatibility and performance optimization. This is standard system information, not personally identifiable.

Feedback Messages (only if you send them)

When you use "Chat with the Maker", your messages, any screenshot you attach, the app version and your device platform are sent to and stored on our server at theindie.app, so the maker can read and reply. The chat is linked only to a random identifier created for this install, never to your name, email or Apple account. Messages are kept for up to 365 days and then deleted. Your runs, location and heart rate are never part of the chat.

Local-First Architecture

All your run data is stored locally on your iPhone using iOS secure storage. Your runs never leave your device unless you choose to share or export them. The only thing Strider sends to a server is what you write in "Chat with the Maker" (see Feedback Messages above), stored on theindie.app's own server.

We never sell, rent, or share your run data with third parties. No advertisers, no data brokers, no app analytics providers. Your run data is yours and yours alone.

Legal compliance

Children's Privacy

Strider is suitable for users 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware of such information, we will delete it immediately.

We comply with GDPR for EU users, CCPA for California residents, and all applicable privacy regulations. Your rights include data access, correction, deletion, and portability.

App Store Guidelines

We fully comply with Apple's App Store privacy guidelines and provide transparent information about our data practices in the App Store listing.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal and regulatory reasons. Any material changes will be highlighted in the app with the new effective date.
